Ian Holland

A Wisconsin-born all-rounder, Holland initially joined Leicestershire on loan in May 2024 before signing permanently from Hampshire ahead of the 2025 season.

He played a pivotal role in firing the Foxes to promotion in his first full season, claiming 38 Championship wickets at 20.44 and adding almost 500 runs at a touch below 30, receiving his Gold Fox cap en route.

As well as proving a deadly new ball bowler, Holland showcased his batting versatility when hitting his fifth Championship century – and first for Leicestershire – when opening against Gloucestershire in Bristol during the 2024 campaign.

Holland’s entry into county cricket is certainly one of the most unique routes imaginable, one which can be traced back to an appearance on reality television. In 2012, Holland entered the Australian show Cricket Superstar, beating 14 other finalists to win a rookie contract with Victoria.

He was later recommended to Hampshire by former all-rounder Dimi Mascarenhas, linking up with the county as a local player – holding a UK passport via his father - in 2017. Holland returned an admirable average of 33.28 with the bat, while taking 19 wickets at just 18.47.

The American international has featured on 21 occasions for his country, scoring 415 runs and taking 29 wickets since his debut in 2019.
