Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Lewis Hill has made a big impression after signing a professional contract with Leicestershire in 2014. Hill has played a number of different roles including solid contributions when opening the batting in first-class cricket and providing fireworks in NatWest T20 Blast. He has also combined batting and wicket-keeping duties in both red and white ball cricket.

Hill scored a half-century on his Specsavers County Championship debut at Kent in 2015 and went one better with a brilliant 126 at Surrey in the next match.

Hill gained more wicket-keeping experience throughout that summer and batted well in a Royal London One-Day Cup match against Durham, where he scored a fine 86 at the Uptonsteel County Ground.

He graduated from the Leicestershire CCC Academy and churned out lots of runs for Lutterworth, Unicorns and our Second XI before joining the staff permanently.

The Leicester-born cricketer batted and kept wicket well for the Second XI throughout 2013 and carried out a similar role in 11 List A appearances for the Unicorns.

Hill made a terrific 87 against a strong bowling attack in an intra-club pre-season game and was a consistent performer for the treble-winning Seconds side. Hill played in the first team against India and Leeds-Bradford MCCU and although neither of those were first-class games, they were good experience for him.

Wicket-keeper Hill had another superb season behind the stumps taking 22 catches and two stumpings in the Specsavers County Championship.

He scored an unbeaten 85 against Kent, putting on 122 with Callum Parkinson for the last wicket. Hill also performed well in the bat in the Royal London One Day Cup, hitting 68* against Derbyshire to guide the Foxes to victory.

The 2018 season saw Hill take 29 catches as wicket-keeper in the Specsavers County Championship, as well as contributing useful runs with the bat.

Hill excelled further with the bat in 2019 where he posted a useful first innings score of 67 against Sussex CCC in the opening round win away at Hove.

Further plaudits came Hill's way during the Royal London One Day Cup victory over Worcestershire Rapids, boasting a List A best of 118.
