Initially joining on a six-week contract, Handscomb has become one of Leicestershire’s most successful signings this century.
Now Club Captain, Handscomb led the Foxes to the Division Two crown during his maiden season as skipper in 2025, scoring more than 600 runs at above 40 en route.
The Australian international – capped on 44 occasions by his country – made an immediate mark at Uptonsteel County Ground, becoming just the seventh player to score a hundred on Championship debut for the Club when tonning up against Yorkshire at Headingley in April 2023.
He later took on the T20 captaincy for the 2024 Vitality Blast campaign, a year in which he also finished as the leading run scorer in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, recording 539 runs at 67.37, featuring three centuries.
A well-versed figure in county cricket, Handscomb previously represented Gloucestershire, Yorkshire, Durham and Middlesex prior to his arrival in the East Midlands. He was presented with his Gold Fox cap during the 2024 summer.
